Patient Group Report

This year we have been able to establish a very keen and active Patient Representative Group .

We had  a very successful evening open to all the practice attended by over 50 people, where we had a very open discussion about how the practice was developing, results of our CQC inspection (excellent) and areas of possible improvement. In general, despite obvious flaws and grumbles about the NHS, there was great support for our practice, for which we are very grateful.

After the meeting volunteers were asked for to form the PRG and a smaller group formed to reflect the practices population. We developed a survey from the questions raised and organised both electronic and paper forms to get patient feedback.

The results of the survey are listed below ...

We have had several PRG meetings to discuss these results and plan future practice developments - a new telephone system was introduced this month to try and improve the early morning pressure on the phone system. We are also looking into using texting to remind patients of appointments especially for their chronic disease management clinics. The practice is developing a newsletter to be available online and in the surgery.

I hope that the PRG and the PPG will continue to develop and work together to improve our patients care.

I feel that using IT can improve communication and I would urge more patients to let us have their e-mail addresses so that we can develop a more efficient systems.
